-How does the fourth angel relate to the third angel?

The fourth angel’s message has a close relation with the third angel’s message. Just like the midnight cry, the message of fourth angel’s message gives a power and a force to the third angel and makes the message greater. Thus, by joining theses to cries, it leads to what we call loud cry.

-What are the two parts to the Loud Cry?

In the last work for the warning of the world, two distinct calls are made to the churches. The second angel’s message is, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” And in the loud cry of the third angel’s message a voice is heard from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” {Mar 189.1}

The first part of the Loud cry is “Babylon has fallen.” And the second is “Come out of her people.”

-What are the two parts to the final warning?

The final warning is constructed by two main messages which are third angels message and the forth angels message (Loud Cry).

Hence the movement symbolized by the angel coming down from heaven, lightening the earth with his glory and crying mightily with a strong voice, announcing the sins of Babylon. ” In connection with his message the call is heard: “Come out of her, My people. These announcements, uniting with the third angel’s message, constitute the final warning to be given to the inhabitants of the earth. {GC 604.1}

-What is the difference between “Babylon is fallen” in the second angel’s message of Revelation 14, as given in the summer of 1844, and “Babylon is fallen” in the Loud Cry of Revelation 18?

The significant difference between those two will be centered on the Sunday law prophecy. The Loud cry will be announced in the context of Babylon giving Sunday law to the world but the message given in the summer of 1844 was not given in the context of Sunday law. Rather, it was the moral fall of the churches and the consequence of their rejection of the first message.

The first angel was followed by a second, proclaiming, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” [REV. 14:8] This message was understood by Adventists to be an announcement of the moral fall of the churches in consequence of their rejection of the first message.” {4SP 232.1}

-Babylon is become: “the habitation of devils,” “the hold of every foul spirit,” “and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.”  Explain each of these elements.

“The habitation of devils” meaning that the churches has become habitually connected with the devils. Same thing with “the hold of every foul spirit”, meaning that people’s soul is completely undertaken by the evil spirits.  “A cage of every unclean and hateful bird”, meaning that those people above are stuck in the cage filled with evil spirits.

They had chosen a ruler who chained them to his car as captive… Satanic agencies were incorporated with men. The bodies of human beings, made for the dwelling place of God, had become the habitation of demons. The senses, the nerves, the passions, the organs of men, were worked by supernatural agencies in the indulgence of the vilest lust. The very stamp of demons was impressed upon the countenances of men. Human faces reflected the expression of the legions of evil with which they were possessed. {DA 36.3}

-List and explain the sins of Babylon, as stated in Revelation 18.

“For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.” (Rev. 18:3)

Wine is represented as a false doctrine. Babylon has filled his cup with the false doctrine, directly opposing to the word of God. The fornication, in the another hand, is the time when the evil ones change the Sabbath to Sunday.

The wine of Babylon is the exalting of the false and spurious sabbath above the Sabbath which the Lord Jehovah hath blessed and sanctified for the use of man, also [it is] the immortality of the soul. These kindred heresies, and the rejection of the truth, convert the church into Babylon. Kings, merchants, rulers, and religious teachers are all in corrupt harmony.  {2SM 68.2}

But the man of sin, exalting himself above God, sitting in the temple of God, and showing himself to be God, thought to change times and laws. This power, thinking to prove that it was not only equal to God, but above God, changed the rest day, placing the first day of the week where the seventh should be. And the Protestant world has taken this child of the papacy to be regarded as sacred. In the Word of God this is called her fornication.  {7BC 979.7}

-When does Babylon’s sins reach unto heaven?

When the Sunday law is proclaimed.

When do her sins reach unto heaven [Rev. 18:2-5]? When the law of God is finally made void by legislation.–ST June 12, 1893.  {LDE 198.5}

-Why does Revelation 18 say that Babylon receives the plagues?

Revelation 18 verse 4 and 5 clearly states that “for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes.” Therefore when the Babylon performs his last great sin against God, that’s when he receives the plagues.  So because of his piled sins, he deserves to receive the plagues.

-If you are honestly serving God, what difference does it make which church you belong to? [according to Revelation 18]

IF you were to follow the first and second angels message, and finally to the third, you will eventually reach to the one unique church. The calling of “Come out of her” is the calling of separation from the apostate protestant church. Concerning those facts, it is important to know the difference of what church you belong to.

-Why are there only two distinct calls made to the churches?

The first call that was made around 1844 was the warning to the churches that the babylon is corrupted. It was the merciful reminder from God. But when the second call is made, it is the reminder at the last minute because the sins of Babylon is almost reaching to heaven.

It is clearly stated that now is the time.

The message of the angel following the third is now to be given to all parts of the world. It is to be the harvest message. –Letter 86, 1900.  {LDE 208.1}

-What is it that gives power to the Loud voice [Cry]?

The Third angels message gives the power to the Loud cry. The message will come alive when the third angel and the loud cry unite its voice.

Then I saw another mighty angel commissioned to descend to earth, and unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message. {1SG 193.2}

Creation vs Evolution

1) Why do you think that our church finds itself in this situation of La Sierra University professors teaching evolution as fact?

As a Christian, we believe that the education and the bible doctrine should not be separated. We received the education that matches with the bible doctrine. The reason why the situation at the La Sierra University is happening is that professors are separating the bible doctrine and the education. Principles are corrupted, they start to compromise with the world, and they accept the fact that the worldly ideas are better than the principles in the bible.  The message in the Rev. 14 is fulfilling.

Why are the messages of Revelation fourteen given? Because the principles of the churches have become corrupted. . . . [Rev. 14:6-10 quoted.]  {7BC 979.1}

2) What do you think should be done about it?

The leaders of our church definitely have to perform their duty. The fact that they are responsible with protecting the word of God, they must deny those who teaches false ideas.

Third Angel’s message

1. What is the core content of the third angel’s message?

The very content of Third Angels message is worship. Worship whom? Either God or the beast.

“If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand.”

The angel continues after this by describing the result of receiving the mark of the beast.

2.When did Jesus send the third angel’s message?

When Christ entered the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary to perform the closing work of the atonement, he committed to his servants the last message of mercy to be given to the world. Such is the warning of the third angel of Revelation 14. Immediately following its proclamation, the Son of man is seen by the prophet coming in glory to reap the harvest of the earth. {4SP 273.1}

Ellen White says that the third angel’s message was sent when Christ entered into the most holy place. Therefore, the third angels message was sent to this earth on 1844.

3.How did the third angel light up the past, the present, and the future to the early advent believers after the passing of the time in 1844?

To show that you are worshiping God or the beast describing in chapter 18, worshipping on first day of the week, Sunday, or worshipping on seventh-day, Saturday would be the issue. Before this message was given to the humans, the importance of the Sabbath was not clearly shown to them. The third angel’s message reveals the light of Sabbath issue and in the last days, it will be even more critical.

he Spirit of God impressed the hearts of these students of his word. The conviction was urged upon them, that they had ignorantly transgressed the fourth commandment by disregarding the Creator’s rest-day. They began to examine the reasons for observing the first day of the week instead of the day which God had sanctified. They could find no evidence in the Scriptures that the fourth commandment had been abolished, or that the Sabbath had been changed; the blessing which first hallowed the seventh day had never been removed. They had been honestly seeking to know and do God’s will, and now, as they saw themselves transgressors of his law, sorrow filled their hearts. They at once evinced their loyalty to God by keeping his Sabbath holy. {4SP 274.1}

4.Why does the evangelical Christian world not accept the truth of Christ’s change of ministration from the holy place to the most holy place in 1844?

Simply, they the evangelical Christians did not want to reconsider their faith on the fourth commandment. The Sabbath truth deepens the acknowledgement of God’s law, which includes the acceptance of the truth concerning the heavenly sanctuary.

None could fail to see that if the earthly sanctuary was a figure or pattern of the heavenly, the law deposited in the ark on earth was an exact transcript of the law in the ark in Heaven, and that an acceptance of the truth concerning the heavenly sanctuary involved an acknowledgment of the claims of God’s law, and the obligation of the Sabbath of the fourth commandment. Here was the secret of the bitter and determined opposition to the harmonious exposition of the Scriptures that brought to view the ministration of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary. {4SP 275.1}

5.How is the message of justification by faith the third angel’s message?

The third angel’s message draws God’s people extremely close to Jesus. The third angel points his finger towards the most holy place where Jesus is performing His job.

This message was to bring more prominently before the world the uplifted Saviour, the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. It presented justification through faith in the Surety; it invited the people to receive the righteousness of Christ, which is made manifest in obedience to all the commandments of God. Many had lost sight of Jesus. They needed to have their eyes directed to His divine person, His merits, and His changeless love for the human family. All power is given into His hands, that He may dispense rich gifts unto men, imparting the priceless gift of His own righteousness to the helpless human agent. This is the message that God commanded to be given to the world. It is the third angel’s message, which is to be proclaimed with a loud voice, and attended with the outpouring of His Spirit in a large measure. –Testimonies to Ministers, pp. 91-93. 6.What is the purpose of the numbering system for the angels’ messages of Revelation 14?

There were many who accepted the third angel’s message without experiencing the first and second angel’s message. Thus, the numbering system of these message helped them to understand the process and clearly show them that these messages are inseparable.

The third angel was pointing the way to the most holy place, and the people  who had had an experience in the past messages showing  the way to the heavenly sanctuary. Many saw the perfect chain of truth in the angels’ messages, and gladly received them in their order, and followed Jesus by faith into the heavenly sanctuary. IN REVELATION 14:8, 9 IS NOT SIMPLY THAT THE SECOND AND THIRD ANGELS FOLLOWED THE FIRST IN POINT OF TIME, BUT THAT THEY WENT WITH HIM. THE THREE MESSAGES ARE BUT ONE THREEFOLD MESSAGE. THEY ARE THREE ONLY IN THE ORDER OF THEIR RISE. BUT HAVING RISEN, THEY GO ON TOGETHER AND ARE INSEPARABLE. {GC 693.1}

7.How do the first, second, and third angels’ messages all blend into one?

The first and second message is the warning for God’s people to separate from the evil and have a perfect obedience to God. The third message is the harvest. It raps up the whole massage.

The first, second, and third angels’ messages are all linked together. {2SM 117.2}

These messages are like steps of real Christian walk. All true Christians will reach to the third angel’s message, which is the Sabbath issue, if they follow these steps.

8.How can you show that the mediation of Christ and the perpetuity of the law of God are the truths of the third angel’s message?

Third angel’s message brings our attention to the most holy place where the work of mediation is happening. The plan of salvation was created even before the humans were born. The work of salvation in the most holy place was planned at the beginning. Since, the truth has never changed its place. God has never changed His mind of changed His law. The work of mediation itself is the proof of  the perpetuity of the law.

9.Where is the “here” in Revelation 14:12: “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God” “and their faith in Jesus.”

“Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” As he repeated these words, he pointed to the heavenly sanctuary. The minds of all who embrace this message are directed to the most holy place, where Jesus stands before the ark, making His final intercession for all those for whom mercy still lingers and for those who have ignorantly broken the law of God. This atonement is made for the righteous dead as well as for the righteous living. {EW 254.1}

The angel pointed his finger towards the heavenly sanctuary when he spoke these words saying, “Here is the patience of the saints.”  Jesus is performing mediation for the dead and will be soon to be for the living. It is the mercy of the Lord, which kept this work of salvation going on.

10.What is the “action step[s]” for the third angel’s message?

The work of these messages will not finish until all men on this acknowledge it. The mercy of God has proclaimed that these messages are to be spread around the world. Every human being will have a chance to gain everlasting life. Our job is to fulfill its goal. We are to spread the gospel around the world and hasten the coming of the Christ.

Men are not to be left in darkness concerning this important matter; the warning against this sin is to be given to the world before the visitation of God’s judgments, that all may know why they are to be inflicted, and have opportunity to escape them…   The warning of the third angel…   will command the attention of the world. {GC 449.2}

11.What are the two purposes for the warning against the beast and his image contained in the third message?

The matter of concerning the Sabbath is so important that nobody was to left alone in the darkness. The truth of Sabbath is to present to the whole world so that every single person in this world will have the opportunity to accept and deny. This warning is the grace of God, which all man in the last days will know.  The warning will bring attention to the Sabbath issue. God’s Character will be revealed to the whole nations. There will be no excuse for those who rejected or ignored the Sabbath truth that God presented to them.

The most solemn warning and the most awful threatening ever addressed to mortals is that contained in the third angel’s message. The sin that calls down the wrath of God unmixed with mercy must be of the most heinous character. Is the world to be left in darkness as to the nature of this sin?–Most assuredly not. God does not deal thus with His creatures. His wrath is never visited upon sins of ignorance. Before His judgments are brought upon the earth, the light in regard to this sin must be presented to the world, that man may know why these judgments are to be inflicted, and may have opportunity to escape them. {ST, November 1, 1899 par. 7}

12.What does it mean to receive the mark of the beast?

If the person receives the mark of the beast, it means that this person accepted that Sunday is the Sabbath. But without knowing that the true Sabbath is Saturday, they won’t be punished by receiving the mark of the beast. But the truth will be revealed to all humans. Therefore, Receiving the mark of the beast is shows that he is opposing the word of God.

John was called to behold a people distinct from those who worship the beast and his image by keeping the first day of the week. The observance of this day is the mark of the beast (Letter 31, 1898). {7BC 979.11}

13.What is “the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture intot he cup of his indignation”?

The answer is written in Revelation 15:1.

Rev. 15:1 ¶ And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.

So the wine of the wrath of God is the seven plague, which those who rejected the mercy of God will drink.

14.How are those who receive the mark of the beast “tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever”?

Very contrast to those who goes to heaven. They are declared that they deserve death. It was them that put themselves to death. By choosing to sin, men separate himself from God, and cut the relation with him. God had gave them so many opportunity to repent but they did not listen.

15.What does it mean that “the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever”? Give some Biblical support. You could also take a look at Jude 7 and Isa. 34:10,11.

When the paper is burnt, it produces smoke but eventually stop burning and stop producing smoke because it is completely burnt. But God says that those who will suffer in the hell will suffer forever and ever.

Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Jude 1:7

Overview of Second Angels Message

When was the second angel’s message given?

-Summer of 1844. Second angels message is a call to repentance. It is calling God’s people to separate from the babylon. By this, it resulted a massive number of Christians joining the Advent movement.

Who did the second angel’s message have a more direct application to?

-The Fallen Babylon applies to the churches that rejected the first angel’s message and boldly not receiving the light. (from GC Chap.24) For they were the ones that spurned the counsel of God.

Why was the second angel’s message given?

-The churches would not receive the light of the first angel’s message, and as they rejected the light from heaven they fell from the favor of God.  They trusted in their own strength, and placed themselves by their opposition to the first message where they could not see the light of the second angel’s message.  But the beloved of God, who were oppressed, answered to the message, Babylon is fallen, and left the fallen churches.

It was given at the last bit of second angels message which was the year 1844.

For those who had received the first angel’s message, how did the Midnight Cry prepare them to enter with Jesus by faith into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary?

The truth of most holy place is the third angels message. Thus, those who did not receive the second angels message did not prepare themselves to receive the third angels message, neither those who rejected first angels message. After the great disappointment, those who did not prepare themselves with the two former messages had no clue about the lights that those who had receive the messages was able to see.

Just as Jesus cleansed the temple both at the beginning and at the end of His public ministry, so in the last work for the warning of the world, two distinct calls are made to the churches. What are the two distinct calls to the churches, and when are these two calls made?

It is the second and the third angels message that is going to be proclaimed to the last churches. “Babylon has Fallen!” And the loud cry saying, “Come out of her, me people, that ye be not partakers of her sins!” These calls are made

Why are there only two distinct calls made to the churches?

By announcing the second angels message, God reveals the evilness of the Babylon. And God acknowledges that there are still His people in Babylon. By uniting the second angels message with third angels message, it constitute the final warning.

First Angel’s Message

-Who gives the first angel’s message?

Ellen White clearly states the following, “These three angels represent the people who accept the light of God’s messages, and go forth as His agents to sound the warning throughout the length and breadth of the earth. {ST, January 25, 1910 par. 5}” So basically the first angel’s message represents the God’s people proclaiming the light that was given to them.

-When was the first angel’s message given?

The first and second messages were given in 1843 and 1844, and we are now under the proclamation of the third; but all three of the messages are still to be proclaimed. CW pg26

-Where was the first angel’s message given?

The message was to proclaimed around the world but the movement centered in North America which was lead by William Miller and others.

“To William Miller and his co-laborers it was given to preach the message in America…” {Story of Redemption pg.357}

-How does the first angel’s message influence the second angel’s message?

The Babylon would not be fallen unless the power of God is revealed. Therefore, it would not make sense if the second angel’s message is proclaimed before the first angel’s message.

-Why was the first angel’s message given?

In the first angel’s message men are called upon to worship God, our Creator, who made the world and all things that are therein. They have paid homage to an institution of the Papacy, making of no effect the law of Jehovah, but there is to be an increase of knowledge on this subject. {17MR 7.3}

The first angel’s message is a preparation to the final work of salvation. It draws our attention closely to the work which Christ is performing in heaven.

First angel’s message is a wake up call for the God’s people and encouraging them to separate from the world. (See GC 379)

-How is the first angel’s message announcing ” the hour of His judgment is come,” a part of the gospel?

Judgement is a salvational work. Without the judgement, we will not be saved. Also, it is the sign that the God’s Kingdom is near, just like what John the baptist was preaching, “Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matt 3:2

How is the first angel’s message still relevant today?

We are living in the last days. And those who were living at the time of 1844 also thought that they were living in the las days. The same message that was proclaimed on 1843, 1844, is to be preached again today. The truth is more clearly revealed and understood than those who were living at the time of 1844. The first angels is saying, “The hour of judgment had come.” will again be announced in churches today.

-What were the consequences to the churches when they rejected the first angel’s message?  [Ahow problem]

The first angel’s message decides who is the true follower of God and who’s not. So it sift out the evil that is hidden in the truth. Those that rejected the first angel’s message is those that was sift out from God’s people. And the second angel’s message follows by saying, “Babylon has fallen…” Their consequences was fulfilled by their moral fall after the rejection.

-What is the “action step” for the first angel’s message?

Building character. It is our character that is going to be judged.

-How does the perceived first angel’s message fit together with the actual content of the first angel’s message?

Obviously, the first angel’s message doesn’t say “Hey, Christ is coming soon so get ready!” totally straight. But it does say that the hour of judgement had come. This is referring to the 1844 which the year that Christ entered into the most holy place. By this is describing how Christ is entering into the final work of salvation.

Seven Seals

The Four horses in chapter 6 of Revelation represents the churches after 1798 because the book was not unsealed until 1798. And cannot be represented the churches during apostolic ages.

The seven seal starts out with the white horse.

And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. Revelation 6:2

Note the part that is saying, “as a conqueror, he rode out to conquer”. The white horse represents the Adventist church, which came out of the advent movement. The rest of the churches represent the churches that rejected the three angels messages.

White represents purity. The fact that the church goes to the marriage and receives the wedding garment, the white means that church receives the Christ’s perfect character that God gives.

As it was mentioned earlier, the red horse symbolizes one of the churches that rejected and crucified Christ, in the form of three angel’s message. They eventually become the black horse. The black represents their absence of truth. As it is written in Revelation 6:8, his name is Death. Horse with its Rider, Death, is symbolizing apostate Protestantism’s complete fall and spiritual death, Therefore, the prophecy of the fall of Babylon is fulfilled.

Rev.6:11“they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they [were], should be fulfilled”

John sawed in his vision, when the fifth seal was opened, the living saints were killed by proclaiming the word of God. It shows that the God’s people will be persecuted and be seed, that would plant an another soul of Christ.

Rev. 6:12, 13 “I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal” “there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black” “and the moon became as blood” “And the stars fell”

Sixth seal is about the second coming. The prophecy about the fallen stars was first fulfilled in the year 1833 and so as the other prophecy that was mentioned in the above verse was fulfilled in 1755 and 1780.

In fulfillment of this prophecy there occurred, in the year 1755, the most terrible earthquake that has ever been recorded. Though commonly known as the earthquake of Lisbon, it extended to the greater part of Europe, africa, and America. It was felt in Greenland, in the WEst Indies, in the island of Madeira, in Norway and Sweden, Great Britain and Ireland. It pervaded an extent of not less than four million square miles. In Africa the shock was almost as severe as in Europe. A great part of Algiers was destroyed; and a short distance from Morocco, a village containing eight or ten thousand inhabitants was swallowed up. A vast wave swept over the coast of Spain and Africa engulfing cities and causing great destruction.”  {GC 304.2}

May 10, 1780, stands in history as “The Dark Day.”  {GC 308}

“This prophecy received a striking and impressive fulfillment in the great meteoric shower of November 13, 1833. “GC 333

“when he had opened the seventh seal”

Finally, the seventh seal was opened.

“there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour”

There is no prophetic time after 1844. Therefore, half an hour is an actual time.

Revelation 5 “The Book”

Revelation 5 is all about unsealing the book and so as chapter 4 & 6. These Three chapters are about unsealing the book that was sealed with seven seals. These are taken place in the most holy place where the judgment is happening. The [time] setting is the last days, from 1798 onward to the second coming, but especially highlights from the time of the advent movement of 1840-1844. We can know that this book has to do with redemption, from Revelation 5:9.

The prophecies that is mentioned in the book of Daniel is unsealed in Revelation. When the book is opened, that is when the judgment starts. At the time of the end, which is when the book get unsealed, the message concerning the judgment is understood and proclaimed, based on a fulfillment of these prophecies.

The book is a book of the heart. It is the record of what is written in our heart. The record is written based on people’s reaction and decisions by the fulfillment of three angels message which begins at the same time of unsealing of the book. These are all taken place “within the heart”.

“Written… on the backside.” The Greek word opisthen for “backside” means after or behind. But it is an adverb, which can tell when in time opposed to where in place. Since this is a experiential book, the people who experience the book is the one who were written within there heart. But those who weren’t there in the advent movement (which is the experience in 1844) are the ones that gets written in the back side, another words, after those who experienced in the advent movement. The book Therefore, “backside” means that some people act on themselves by receiving and acting on what they saw.

By reading Revelation 6, we will notice that the sealed book is no longer sealed. Opening one of the seals means that the particular event now occurs. Daniel was told to sealed the book until the last days. In Daniel 12:4 it says, “many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”

But since 1709 the book of Daniel has been unsealed, knowledge of the prophecies has increased, and many have proclaimed the solemn message of the judgment near. {GC 356.2}

The Character

The Character is composed with thoughts and feeling.  The thoughts that you have in your mind, the feelings you feel construct your Character. In another words, character is made up of a habitual train of thoughts.

If the thoughts are wrong the feelings will be wrong, and the thoughts and feelings combined make up the moral character. {5T 310

 

The transformation of character must take place before His coming. Our natures must be pure and holy;…   {OHC 278}

It states clearly here that we must have transformed(perfected) character before the second coming.

Nature is something that human is born with. Nature is more than character. It is the tendencies to sin which we call Selfish desires. Nature is interchangeable with character. It started since Adam’s Fall.  Since then, man planted the knowledge of evil into his character. In order for us to be reformed, our character must reach to the point where Jesus had while the investigated judgment is happening. Our record of sin must be blotted out from the record book. Then at the second coming, our physical appearance will be transformed.

 

Every faculty in man is a workman that is building for time and for eternity. Day by day the structure [character] is going up, although the possessor is not aware of it. It is a building which must stand either as a beacon of warning because of its deformity or as a structure which God and the angels will admire for its harmony with the divine Model. The mental and moral powers which God has given us do not constitute character. They are talents, which we are to improve, and which, if properly improved, will form a right character.  A man may have precious seed in his hand, but that seed is not an orchard. The seed must be planted before it can become a tree. The mind is the garden, the character is the fruit. God has given us our faculties to cultivate and develop. Our own course determines our character. In training these powers so that they shall harmonize and form a valuable character, we have a work which no one but ourselves can do.  {4T 606.2}

Faculty is a natural or acquired power or ability. Therefore, the mental and the moral power is a faculty in man, another words, workman. We are to train, polish those powers. Those powers build our character. For example, if we exercise are will power to love, then that power will be strengthen. If we exercise the will power to make a right judgment, it will be strengthen and will be naturally habitual motive.

We cannot build our Character by ourselves. We must let God play in this role. Our parts is to choose to put right thoughts into the mind, repetitiously, thus programming the subconscious. And God will take care the rest to change our desires and feelings.

The development of all our powers is the first duty we owe to God and to our fellow men… and we should cultivate every faculty to the highest degree of perfection…  {COL 329}

It is the Holy Spirit that makes the difference. The good character is developed by the continuous repetition of putting thought of words into our minds. The workmen does not change our desires. It may correct the outwardness, but will not change the desire.

We must decide to go to marriage before the time of trouble. Beginning of time of trouble is when Jesus leaves the Most Holy place. There will be no more mediation happening thus, no more cleansing of sin. We must perfect our character while Jesus is performing the mediation to be cleansed because He is the one that do final process of cleansing.

It is important to understand the limitation that we have within the faculty powers. The building of mental and moral power will not make man holy. Not until the record of sin is blotted out at the final atonement will man be perfect in character. When a person sees his sinfulness, he will strongly feel the need of Christ. He cannot be sinless without a mediator during the time of trouble without the final atonement. 

Daniel 9 User Notes

Daniel 9 is a continuous chapter of Daniel 8. Notice what it says in Dan 8:27.

“And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.”

Daniel did not understood the vision that was mentioned in Dan 8. The core verse was in verse 14.

“Unto two-thousand three hundred days, then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.”

So in Daniel 9, Angel appears again in Daniel’s vision and explained the vision that was formerly presented to Daniel.

Dan. 9:24—Seventy weeks [490 days] are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city…

Notice the meaning of the word determined in this verse. By the context of this verse, the word determined in this verse has a meaning of “cutting off”. So another words, its saying that the “Seventy weeks” shall be “cut off”. Keep in mind that this verse is a explanation of Daniel 8:14. Therefore, this 490days or 490 years (By the law of prophetic timeline. Numbers14:34. See the Daniel 8 post under verse 14 for detail.) had been cut off from 2300 days (years).

Fortunately, the angel which appeared in the same vision had left a big hint of where this prophecy will begin. Let’s move onto verse 25 of chapter 9.

“Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem…”

This command was fulfilled by King Artaxerxes in the fall of year 457 B.C. Thus, by subtracting 2300 with 457 will be fall of 1843. But this is where it gets little tricky. In the Jewish calendar (Even with our calendar today), it does not have year 0. To make it more simple, there was no year 0 between 1 B.C. and 1 A.D. Therefore the ending year will be actually 1844 instead. This is where William Miller had first mistaken also.

Now going back to Daniel 8:14, it is saying that cleansing of sanctuary will be accomplished at the end of 2300 days. Therefore, the cleansing of the holy place will be finished and Jesus will move onto the next stage which is the final atonement.

As it is written in bible, we understand that the first earthly sanctuary was first build by the hand of Moses and the Israelites. The daily atonement took place everyday and the Day of Atonement was performed every once in a year. Read Leviticus 16 for details.

Lev. 16:29—On the tenth day of the seventh month…

Here it is specifying the Day of Atonement. If we look at the Jewish calendar, we will notice that this is October 22 in our calendar today. Day of Atonement takes place in the Most Holy place. Thus, As I mentioned before, the end of 2300 is when the final Atonement starts which takes place in the Most holy place. The earthy sanctuary is the model of heavenly sanctuary (Heb. 8:15). That will conclude that October 22, 1844 was the ending date of 2300 days.
